Julijana Sarac performs the first/third movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 21 (“Waldstein”). The work was completed in 1804 and is considered one of Beethoven's greatest and most technically challenging piano sonatas.

The compelling documentary How to Get Out of the Cage (2012) by award-winning filmmaker Frank Scheffer presents an intimate portrait of John Cage (1912-1992), one of 20th century's most important composers. From 1982 to 1992, Scheffer worked with Cage on numerous occasions, which resulted in unique archives of historical audio-visual material, including interviews, musical performances, and images of locations related to the composer’s life and work. In all Scheffer’s works related to Cage, he used the old Chinese method of chance operations based on the Yi Jing – as often used by Cage himself in his compositions. Instead of using chance operations, Scheffer edited the film in the usual way that is based on choice.

One night only! Welcome to the spectacular and decadent world of The Babylon Hotel, where music pours out of every crevice like bubbling champagne. In this concert, the upper class meets the underworld in a melting pot of euphoria and extravagance, nostalgia and pleasure with a carefree sinfulness only seen in the exuberant nightlife of the 1920s around the world. The concert features iconic music from movies and series, such as The Great Gatsby, Burlesque, and Babylon Berlin. The music is performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and DR Big Band under the direction of Miho Hazama. The concert also features the Moka Efti Orchestra, and singers Madame le Pustra, Emma Smith, Mademoiselle Karen, Jakob Munch, and Nikko Weidemann, as well as dancers of Sweet Burlesque. This performance was recorded at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark, in May 2023.

In this exciting documentary, we go behind-the-scenes at the Zurich Opera House and follow the intensive progress of the new production of Gioachino Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Vesselina Kasarova in the role of Rosina. The film also shows preparations for other productions, such as a workshop for Richard Wagner's Siegfried directed by Robert Wilson, and a rehearsal for Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps with choreography by Heinz Spoerli. This film opens the curtain to understanding an opera house’s many exciting facets.

The Boy with the Wig - Kids on Mozart explores children’s fascination with the composer. The 30-minute film by Claus Wischmann features boys and girls aged between eight and eleven recounting his life through humour and serious interpretations of Mozart’s biography. Directed in 2012 by Enrique Sánchez Lansch, the documentary The 12 Cellists follows the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1972, this group is a staple of the international musical universe. German organist Ullrich Böhme performs various organ works by J. S. Bach at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany, in this concert recording from 2000. St. Thomas Church is associated with several composers, including Felix Mendelssohn and Richard Wagner, but most especially with J. S. Bach, who was ‘Thomaskantor’ from 1723 until his death in 1750. On the concert’s program are Toccata in D minor, BWV 565; Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227/9; Nun danket alle Gott, BWV 657; Jesu bleibet meine Freude, BWV 147/6; Prelude and Fugue in A minor, BWV 543; Vor deinen Thron tret ich hiermit, BWV 668; Toccata and Fugue in F major, BWV 540; and a selection of organ chorales from Bach’s Orgelbüchlein: In dich hab ich gehoffet, Herr, BWV 640; Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten, BWV 641; Wer nur den lieben Gott läßt walten, BWV 642; Alle Menschen müssen sterben, BWV 643; and Ach wie nichtig, BWV 644.

Eímear Noone conducts the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir in a spectacular performance of some of the most well-known video game soundtracks of the last forty years. This programme showcases the depth and breadth of the video game music genre, featuring pieces from Nintendo legend Koji Kondo, DOOM veteran Mick Gordon and a whole host of contemporary game composers including Noone herself. Key soundtracks featured include Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, Halo and World of Warcraft. Soloists for this performance are Tuva Semmingsen (mezzo) and Christine Nonbo Andersen (soprano). Recorded at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2018.

For decades, contemporary Dutch composer Johan de Meij has been stunning audiences the world over with his beautiful, intense and multi-medial classical compositions. His Symphony No. 3, "Planet Earth", dates back to 2006. It embodies an ode to Mother Earth ('Gaia' in Greek), borrowed from a three-thousand-year-old Greek hymn attributed to Homer. Sung in the original language by a choir, the hymn asks us to honor the planet that takes care of us all. In this filmed performance, a symbolic Gaia, embodied by dancer Mikayla Scaife, takes up the role of protagonist and narrator. Her dance tells the story of our past and present and offers us a glimpse of a possible future. This film was directed and edited by Jed Parker. Composer Anthony Fiumara described the result as follows: "De Meij’s 'Planet Earth' is music for our time. The film adds a completely new dimension to the gorgeous orchestral score. It shows the beauty of our planet in a wake-up call with a hopeful ending. The interaction between music and film make 'Planet Earth' an intense and unforgettable experience.”

Juan Manuel Cañizares is the soloist in a performance of Joaquín Rodrigo's (1901-1999) Concierto de Aranjuez. He is accompanied by the Berliner Philharmoniker led by maestro Sir Simon Rattle.
